3M™ Fluorosurfactants are non-ionic polymeric fluorochemical surfactants belonging to a class of coating additives which provide low surface tensions in organic or aqueous coating systems that are best obtainable with fluorochemicals.

 

Fluorosurfactants are excellent wetting, levelling and flow control agents for a variety of waterborne, solvent-borne, high-solids and radiation curable organic polymer coating systems.

 

These fluorosurfactants are soluble and compatible with most polymers and continue to be active throughout the drying or curing process. When used in waterborne polymer systems, Novec fluorosurfactants tend to reduce the aqueous/organic interfacial tension and remain surface active in the organic portion of the polymer system.

3M™ Stain Resistant Additive and Sealer SRA-461 is a fluorochemical acrylic resin concentrate in Isopar L and dipropyleneglycol methylether (DPM) designed for industrial applications to porous hard surfaces such as concrete, marble, granite, limestone, terracotta and grout. Properly applied, SRA-461 imparts excellent and durable water, oil and stain resistant properties on these porous hard surfaces. The substrate’s natural characteristics are generally unaffected by the application of this product. Be sure to evaluate the 3M product for compatibility in your application before using.   Stain-resistant additive and Sealer SRA-461 can be added to an existing solvent-based formulation or diluted with solvents and used as a penetrating sealer. The choice of solvent, solvent grade, or solvent blend influences the solubility and oil and water repellency of the additive SRC-461. Any proposed formula should be checked for compatibility, solubility, and performance. SRA-461 concentrate can be an additive to many commercial solvent-based coating and sealer formulations. Stain Resistant Additive SRA-461 can also be added to the 100% silane or the solvent based silane formulations to enhance the oil and stain resistant properties of silane formulations. Typical recommended additive levels (as an additive or as a standalone sealer) range from 0.2% to 3.0% active material.The additive level is dependent upon the substrate, degree of stain resistance desired and if there are other resins in the formulation.Suggested Formulation as Standalone Sealer:80-100 grams SRA-46130 grams Dipropylene glycol methyl ether870-890 grams Isoparaffins
